2/27/2004 - Kabira[tm] Technologies Inc., the leader in high-speed Switching Software and Service Platforms for telecommunications and real-time financial services, unveiled the Kabira High-Volume Transaction Adapter (HVTA) to connect the Kabira Infrastructure Switch to the Sun Java Enterprise System (Java ES). Kabira's HVTA for Sun Java ES is a key component for the deployment of new solutions in wireless telecommunications on a Sun and Kabira platform. The new software will be demonstrated live in the Kabira booth at 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France, Booth D13, Hall 2, Le Palais des Festivals.
Yousef Yacoub, director software engineering for Sun's Market Development Engineering said, "The Kabira adapter for Sun Java Enterprise System completes the solution that was announced at the SunNetwork 2003 Conference last September. The adapter is a high-speed connection between the Solaris OS, Kabira's Infrastructure Switch and Sun's upper layer software. The HVTA moves data, objects and events both 'Northbound' and 'Southbound' through the Java Enterprise System. This enables a virtual direct-connection between Sun's enterprise network services and high-speed global networks. In the wireless market, this speed is especially important because many new services are more content and data oriented than voice-based."
"Sun systems are the delivery platform of choice for wireless voice, messaging and content-rich services," said Grover Righter, vice president of marketing for Kabira. "As telecom services grow more complex, our customers are asking us to extend our connections much farther into the enterprise software environments than ever before. With today's announcement, we can demonstrate to our customers the ability to fully integrate our Service Delivery Platform, Message Gateway, OSA Parlay software, Real-Time Convergent Mediation and other solutions with the Sun Java Enterprise System."
Kabira High-Volume Transaction Adapter:
The new adapter is a software interface component that directly connects the Kabira Infrastructure Switch with the Java Messaging System support for the Java System Message Queue. The HVTA utilizes Kabira's unique multi-threaded asynchronous architecture to speed messages in both directions through the system. Unlike narrow band connector architectures, Kabira Adapters are fail-over safe, self-recovering and fully transactional. The underlying architecture has been benchmarked to exceed 50,000 transaction events per second on Sun hardware and has been commercially proven to support tens-of-millions of wireless subscribers in a distributed environment. An architecture diagram showing the logical stack for the HVTA is at http://pub.kabira.com/graphics/VSA-HVTA.gif.

About Kabira Technologies Inc.
Kabira is the leader in high-speed Switching Software and Service Platforms for telecommunications and real-time financial services. Our customers require unique speed, scalability, transactionality and business model flexibility. Kabira has been installed and widely adopted by leaders in telecommunications and credit cards in more than 30 countries.
Mobile communications now combines voice, messaging and multi-media. Real-time financial transactions are increasing in volume and complexity. Because of the instantaneous response needed for these systems, existing batch processes and offline settlements will become obsolete. As providers of financial and telecommunications services move to 'Real-Time Everything', they hit a wall - their systems and software are not fast enough, robust enough or flexible enough to keep up with customers. Kabira 'breaks down the wall' with the world's fastest switching software for zero-latency business transactions and services. Visit our website at http://www.kabira.com/.
