2/27/2004 - Electronics for You magazine named National Instruments LabVIEW 7 Express graphical development environment the winner of the design and simulation software category in its Inaugural EFY Readers’ Choice Awards 2004. The magazine announced the award winners on Feb. 13, 2004 at India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
LabVIEW 7 Express makes taking measurements and analyzing data from those measurements easier than ever before with configuration-based Express VIs, the redesigned NI-DAQ 7 driver framework and interactive measurement assistants. These code-generation tools simplify development tasks, such as data acquisition and instrument connectivity, with interactive dialog boxes that require little or no programming.
“A typical product life cycle involves iterations between modeling, simulation, prototyping and testing, before the design is completed,” said Jayaram Pillai, managing director for National Instruments India. “In today’s competitive world, faster time-to-market differentiates one player from another. National Instruments helps accelerate this design process with software such as LabVIEW and measurement hardware that integrate with existing design and simulation tools, so that engineers can compare real-world test data with simulation models during design. This exposes flaws earlier in the design phase, thus reducing the iterations to arrive at the final product, hence faster time-to-market.”
The nominations for the award were based on the analysis done by IMRB on the inputs received from Electronics for You readers and members of the electronics industry. The winners were selected by the ranking given by a panel of eminent personalities and readers of the magazine. The nominees in the Design and Simulation Software category included Cadence, The MathWorks Inc. MATLAB®, National Instruments, National Semiconductor and Trident Techlabs.
