Marimba, Shavlik Present Security Patch Management at RSA Conference

2/27/2004 - Marimba, Inc. (Nasdaq: MRBA) announced that it will be featuring its patch management capabilities at the RSA Conference, Feb. 26, in San Francisco, Calif. Conference attendees may visit Marimba in the Shavlik Technologies exhibit booth (#727). Marimba also has signed an OEM agreement with Shavlik whereby Marimba will integrate Shavlik's automated patch assessment and deployment technology into the next-generation Marimba® Security Patch Management solution, which was announced on Feb. 24, 2004

Shavlik's technology will deepen Marimba's Security Patch Management solution with a full-featured repository for up-to-date, tested information on Microsoft patches. In addition, Marimba's next-generation product includes advanced enterprise-class features such as patch simulation, patch impact analysis, and intelligent patch detection and deployment, which can enable enterprises to significantly cut costs and improve response times by automating critical steps during the patch detection and remediation process.

"Our agreement with Shavlik will further strengthen Marimba's Security Patch Management solution for Windows environments," said Rich Wyckoff, Marimba's president and CEO. "Our next-generation offering delivers faster, more accurate patch management capabilities and virtually eliminates the vulnerabilities and costs inherent in managing patches manually."

"Having the necessary patches in place is critical - it's the first and most fundamental line of defense against hackers, worms and other security attacks," said Mark Shavlik, president and CEO of Shavlik Technologies. "By combining Marimba and Shavlik Technologies, customers will have an automated, real-time solution that makes getting the right patches to the right machines as easy as possible. Ultimately, this helps network administrators reduce the significant time and resources associated with manual patch management."
