Intermec Addresses RFID Issues with Educational Summits

2/27/2004 - Intermec Technologies Corp. announced it will host two RFID educational summits on March 1, 2004 in Cromwell, Connecticut, and March 2, 2004 in Marlborough, Massachusetts. The educational programs will address the most significant RFID (radio frequency identification) issues suppliers face today: establishing the value RFID can provide an organization, understanding various specifications behind RFID tag and reader technology and becoming familiar with applications and standards that will prepare a company for supply chain readiness programs.

The half-day programs, taking place from 8:00 a.m. to noon in each location, concentrate on central RFID issues, including a technology overview, comparing frequencies and distances, global regulations and requirements, site surveys, tag selection and mounting, system integration and standard updates.

“Suppliers and customers want the facts about RFID, pure and simple,” said Intermec Vice President Scott Medford. “These unbiased educational seminars will give attendees the ability to separate fact from fiction without fear of a sales pitch, helping them select and implement RFID technology that will provide the most value to their supply chain.”

RFID, a complement to current bar code-based tracking systems, allows companies to automatically track inventory throughout an entire supply chain. Intermec RFID already is at work throughout the world, deployed in wide-ranging applications that include inventory and asset management, access control, compliance tracking, and personnel and vehicle identification.
