2/26/2004 - Accelerated Technology®, the Embedded Systems Division of Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT), announced that Accelerated Technology has partnered with Paradigm Systems, Inc (Endwell, N.Y.) to resell and distribute the Paradigm C++ Professional integrated development environment (IDE) package with support for 32-bit protected mode, 24-bit extended address mode and 20-bit real mode x86 embedded systems development. The Nucleus software developers using the x86 architecture can now purchase their real-time operating system (RTOS) and development tools from one vendor.
The x86 processor families have always been a strong market for Accelerated Technology's Nucleus RTOS. Studies of the embedded market consistently show that x86 processors are the number one selling embedded processor measured by the number of design wins. The x86 is particularly strong in the electronic instrumentation and industrial automation/control markets. The Paradigm C++ Professional tools support, in both real and protected modes for the Nucleus RTOS, gives developers a complete development package in which to develop and debug their x86 applications. In addition, the Nucleus software is provided with well-documented source code and without royalty fees.
"Paradigm is pleased to work closely with Accelerated Technology in providing a complete range of development tool solutions for embedded x86 applications using the Nucleus real-time operating system," said Rick Naro, president of Paradigm Systems. "Spanning the complete range of 16-bit x86 processor cores to the highest performance Intel and AMD 32-bit protected mode microprocessors, Paradigm and Accelerated Technology provide a complete solution unavailable elsewhere in the real-time embedded marketplace."
"Studies of the embedded market show that the x86 processor architecture is the number one processor family by volume used in embedded designs. The x86 architecture is especially strong in the electronic instrumentation and industrial automation/control markets. Because these are important markets to Accelerated Technology we are committed to the x86 marketplace," said Robert Day, director of marketing, Mentor Graphics Embedded Systems Division.
The Paradigm C++ Professional/Real package is a complete Integrated Development Environment for x86 real mode targets. This package provides the ability to compile, assemble, link, locate and debug an embedded application for a target within the 20-bit real mode address space (1MB). The Paradigm C++ Professional/Protected IDE includes both real and protected mode support, providing the ability to develop and debug an embedded application for a target within 32-bit protected mode address space in flat model (4GB) or the 20-bit real mode address space (1MB).
