2/24/2004 - NMS Communications (NASDAQ: NMSS), announced that its AccessGateTM wireless access gateway has achieved interoperability approval from Nortel Networks. Testing was done using GSM infrastructure equipment located in Nortel Networks Wireless Interoperability Lab in Richardson, Texas.
"We're excited about the achievement of this milestone, thanks in part to the support and acumen of Nortel Networks's IOT staff," said Jacob Guedalia, vice president and general manager, NMS Communications Network Infrastructure business unit. "We are committed to maintaining AccessGate compatibility with future product releases."
The completion of this testing confirming interoperability of AccessGate and Nortel Networks BSS equipment means that operators that have deployed Nortel Networks equipment in their networks can take full advantage of the immediate radio access backhaul expense reduction offered by AccessGate. Achieved through bandwidth reduction that does not affect voice quality, these savings can amount to as much as 50%.
