2/19/2004 - Groeneveld IT B.V., a leading, international manufacturer of efficiency products for transport, industry and the off-road sector, announces the availability of its TopIQ® in-cab computer enabling innovative fleet management. Requirements from users, operators and OEMs have been taken into account and resulted in a highly applicable fleet management system that is unique in terms of compactness, user-friendliness and flexibility. The first orders for this end-to-end solution have already been placed.
TopIQ® offers the most widely required operational functions such as driver and charter registration, vehicle and shipment tracking & tracing, and the transmission of fleet orders. A mobile telephone and a navigation system can optionally be added. The terminal has a touch-screen colour display and was designed after extensive research among users of in-cab computers. Both, readability and usability meet the highest requirements.
More important, TopIQ® has been designed for remote software upgrades and remote monitoring, which is enabled by ProSyst's software solutions. The software of vehicles can now be remotely updated at any time. Information relevant to the driver, the vehicle and its load can easily be exchanged and dynamically updated while error notifications are immediately sent to the respective technical headquarter. This innovative solution from Groeneveld meets an important requirement of internationally operating logistic service providers: Using TopIQ® logistics companies become more independent and will be able to save time and money.
The TopIQ® terminal includes ProSyst´s OSGi-based software mBedded Server, an open, modular, scalable, and Java-based service delivery platform which is capable of interconnecting smart devices, providing and deploying services and infotainment content. It enables remote control, diagnostics, and maintenance. The seamless delivery of services such as remote updates, access and maintenance is enabled by ProSyst´s mPower Remote Manager, the powerful back-end administration platform, that is responsible for the exchange of data between vehicles and manufacturers, network operators and external service providers. mPower Remote Manager can be easily integrated into existing enterprise systems, such as application servers, databases, billing systems, or messaging middleware.
ProSyst´s software products are all compliant with the latest OSGi Specification R3, making this end-to-end solution open to any new technology, standard, and application. OSGi-technology enables the combination of TopIQ® with any peripheral equipment and services from numerous providers.
Thomas Hott, CEO of ProSyst Software AG: "While other on-board unit projects are taking their toll at the moment, Groeneveld has successfully met the challenge of building a state-of-the-art fleet management solution. We are excited that the TopIQ® is now being launched to the market as the first OSGi-based on-board computer. We are convinced that many logistics and vehicle companies will benefit from the dynamically available remote management services."
Paul van den Avoort, Groeneveld IT: "The decision for ProSyst Software AG and its ready-to-use OSGi-based products has not only accelerated the fast and secure development of our product, but also made sure that the TopIQ® in-cab computer will always be future-proof and open to upcoming standards, applications and services. Based on such a good and fruitful relationship and our experience with ProSyst, we are certain to having found the right partner."
