Synplify Pro Delivers Optimal Results for Altera's Stratix II Devices

2/18/2004 - Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) announced that Synplicity’s Synplify Pro® version 7.5 software delivers excellent results for Altera’s new high-performance, high-density StratixTM II devices. The Synplify Pro software leverages Synplicity’s Behavior Extracting Synthesis Technology® (BESTTM) algorithms to deliver optimal circuit performance with the most efficient area utilization for Stratix II devices. Using the Synplify Pro software and Altera’s Quartus® II software to implement designs in Stratix II devices, designers can take full advantage of the Stratix II architecture’s enhanced features such as the larger dedicated multiply accumulate (MAC) functions and TriMatrixTM memory blocks.

In addition to fully leveraging the enhanced features of the Stratix II family, the Synplify Pro software’s new fully automatic timing constraint feature provides increased timing performance for Altera FPGAs. The new timing constraint feature automatically tightens timing constraints until a maximum clock frequency is achieved. Furthermore, the Synplify Pro software incorporates new Stratix II FPGA-specific optimizations for area reduction, often resulting in designs fitting in smaller, less expensive devices.
