2/13/2004 - Fiorano Software, Inc. a leading provider of Enterprise Integration Middleware, announced that it has been recognized as among the pioneering vendors for Multi-protocol Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) technology by Analyst firm Gartner Inc.
In Gartnerís latest research paper "Predicts 2004: Enterprise Service Buses Are Taking Off", Roy Schulte, VP and Research Director, predicts that "Single protocol ESBs based exclusively on HTTP transport for WSDL will fade away and will have to converge towards Multi-protocol ESBs and ESBs will supersede traditional communication middleware in new applications by 2007."
Multi-protocol ESBs support SOAP/HTTP and additional protocols by implementing communication patterns, such as guaranteed delivery and publish-and-subscribe. These products also provide various value-added services.
Naming Fiorano as one such pioneering vendor, Gartner adds in the paper, "During the past year, some pioneering multi-protocol ESB vendors have announced comprehensive integration suites as a layer built on top of their base ESB. Customers can start with the ESB and add options, such as adapters, business process management (BPM) and message warehousing."
Despite claims to be "standards-based", traditional brokers are proprietary, require substantial investments in consulting services and continue to add complex functionality at a high cost. Major vendors have announced ESB products, but these are not expected to enter the market till 2005-07.
Fiorano, one of the earliest entrants in this space in May 2002, deployed what is probably today the largest ESB implementation at POSCO, the second largest steel company in the world.
Fiorano ESB provides POSCO a highly scalable, distributed, event-driven, Service-oriented platform, deployed over 400 nodes worldwide on 40 different operating systems on a variety of existing and legacy hardware running on multiple networking protocols. Fiorano continues to aggressively add to its Fiorano ESB and Fiorano BIS customer base.
"Fiorano ESB is a flexible, scalable and cost-effective solution for the Enterprise integration initiative. Unique in itís support for business-level components that can be easily composed into event-driven business processes by non-programmers, Fiorano ESB combines a peer-to-peer implementation and multi-protocol support, making it a superior solution from both business and technical viewpoints", says Atul Saini, CEO of Fiorano.
