2/12/2004 - Marimba, Inc. (Nasdaq: MRBA) announced growing momentum in sales of its security patch management solution. AP Moeller, Catholic Health Care West, Experian, GE Capital Global Consumer Finance, NVIDIA, PNC Bank, and a U.S. Department of Defense agency, among others, selected Marimba's Patch Management solution in 2003. These companies chose Marimba to manage and distribute critical security patches and application updates to prevent and remediate security attacks on browsers, data center servers, point-of-sale systems, ATMs, applications, and other computer systems.
According to Meta Group, the collective number of security and software fixes released in 2003 reached a never-before-seen level. During 2004, IT organizations are expected to continue to be flooded with a similar - if not greater - number of patches, putting the onus on security and operations staff to implement an effective patch-management process. For most organizations, current patch-management processes are ad hoc and manual at best, which typically exposes the corporation to security vulnerabilities and drains limited IT resources. However, by 2005, Meta estimates 40 percent of IT organizations will have implemented dedicated patch-management processes and point solutions on their servers, with that number growing to 75 percent and including servers, desktops, and laptops by 2007*.
