EDN Selects TI as Finalist for Three Innovation of the Year Awards

2/11/2004 - Electronic Design News (EDN) has named two Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) products, Code Composer Studio" (CCStudio) 2.2 and the AR7 ADSL Router as finalists in EDNīs 2003 "Innovation of the Year" awards competition. In addition, a TI-authored article titled, "Designing Controlled-Impedance Vias,. was named a finalist in a new contributed article category created by the editorial staff to recognize depth of quality of technical pieces. Hours of Development Time Saved with Fast Simulation Technology in CCStudio v. 2.2
New additions to TIīs CCStudio v.2.2 including DSP fast simulation technology and an Analysis Tool Kit (ATK) for its TMS320C5000TM and TMS320C6000TM DSP platforms were selected to compete in EDN.s "Software" category. The true innovation lies in TIīs underlying simulation technology that enables developers to run complex DSP simulations in minutes instead of hours. This technology, when coupled with the new Analysis Tool Kit, enables developers increased application visibility and the opportunity to profile and model full DSP applications.

First Truly Integrated ADSL Modem on a Single Chip
TIīs AR7 ADSL router on chip was chosen as a finalist in the "Application-Specific Standard Products/SoCs" category. The AR7 is the first truly integrated ADSL modem and bridge/router on a single piece of silicon. The AR7 integrates all devices, including the line driver as compared to competitorsī single chip ADSL products which use multi-chip modules or do not integrate the line driver.

TI field applications engineer Thomas Neu wrote "Designing Controlled-Impedance Vias," chosen as a finalist by EDN editorial staff in the "Best Contributed Article" category, a category created this year to recognize quality of technical articles.

EDNīs exclusive awards program is dedicated to honoring truly outstanding and innovative engineering products in the electronics industry. A panel of EDN technical editors selected TI products from hundreds of entries and the winners will be chosen by EDNīs readers through an online ballot on EDN Access Web site at http://www.reed-electronics.com/ednmag/innovationballot.asp February 5-19. Winners will be announced at an awards banquet on March 29 in San Francisco, and then publicly in the special section of the April 15 EDN issue.
