2/9/2004 - In response to increasing industry demand for IP Video over DSL, Paradyne Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: PDYN), a leading provider of broadband voice, data and video network access solutions, announced an eleven-city seminar tour that addresses the end-to-end deployment of switched video over ordinary telephone lines using the latest broadband and video distribution technology. To provide a comprehensive analysis of successful IP video deployments - including content acquisition and packaging - Paradyne has assembled a best-of-class consortium of industry solution providers, covering all aspects of the network design from head end to the set top box. (For a current list of participating companies, see www.telcovideo.org.)
"Understanding the Market and Deployment Obstacles of Video over DSL" is a free, one day educational seminar featuring two tracks: a technical track focuses on the critical hardware and network equipment used to deploy Telco TV services; and a marketing track covers content acquisition and packaging of content for a telephone company's successful transition to digital entertainment provider.
"As more independent telephone companies are planning their IP video strategy, it's important that key decision makers understand the intricacies of a successful deployment," said William Cobb, vice president of product management at Paradyne. "By assembling educational content from industry leaders that provide the various pieces of an IP video network, Paradyne has produced the single most important event for any telco considering video."
The seminar tour begins in Nashville, Tenn., on February 17, and also includes Minneapolis, February 24; Pittsburgh, March 2; Indianapolis, March 9; Charlotte, N.C., March 11; Boise, Idaho, March 16; Las Vegas, March 18; Des Moines, Iowa, April 6; Kansas City, Mo., April 8; Dallas, April 13; and Charlottesville, Va., April 15.
"For the independent telcos to truly thrive in the world of entertainment distribution, it is important for them to be united and work together so they will be able to both source and create content that will differentiate them from their competitors," said Ken Pyle, vice president of Viodi, LLC. "We are thrilled to be participating with such high profile suppliers and believe this seminar will be effective in bringing the industry together to share a common vision for the future of IP Video," said Pyle.
The seminar is free of charge and open to qualified broadband industry technicians, engineers and telephone company executives. More information about this seminar series, including online registration and specific venue details, is available at www.telcovideo.org.
