2/4/2004 - Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTEC), the company driving the global core system software standard in PCs and connected digital devices for 25 years, announced that ASUS Corporation, leading manufacturer of high-quality and innovative technology, has adopted Phoenix FirstWare® Recover Pro into its ASUS-branded notebooks. This will improve the quality and reliability of these PCs, increasing worker productivity while reducing support costs. ASUS is a longtime Phoenix partner.
"As the workforce becomes increasingly mobile, users have come to expect that they can quickly recover their notebooks if system problems occur while on the road," said Ted Hsu, Vice President of R&D at ASUS Corp. "Phoenix FirstWare Recover Pro allows us to deliver products that allow users to restore with a simple process. This means they can maintain productivity almost anywhere, even when offline. It also helps to reduce IT support costs for enterprises and technical support costs for our customers."
Phoenix FirstWare Recover Pro is the award-winning Phoenix Core Managed Environment (cMETM) certified application that allows PC and notebook users to quickly and easily restore the PC image, in whole or in part. By incorporating Phoenix's advanced technology into new notebooks, ASUS enables users to restore systems applications to original factory settings, to restore the entire approved corporate image, or to restore uncorrupted versions of user data, without needing a boot disk, network connection or a recovery CD.
ASUS also benefits from Phoenix cME PC Edition Console, which extends the ASUS brand into the core system software. Phoenix cME Console also authenticates valuable OS and application services to ensure that Phoenix FirstWare applications are always secure and available.
"ASUS is a longstanding industry leader known for top-line mobile PCs," said Timothy D. Eades, Senior Vice President, Corporate Marketing and Product Division for Phoenix. "Their selection of Phoenix FirstWare Recover Pro will make ASUS notebooks much easier to use and maintain. This is a natural enhancement for new PCs, but Phoenix FirstWare Recover Pro can also be added to installed systems for additional revenue."
