2/2/2004 - Real-Time Innovations and LocSoft sign a UK distribution agreement covering the sales and support of RTI products.
Many mission-critical applications have real-time data-distribution requirements that are being met by RTI's NDDS®. This agreement will permit UK-based project teams to have access to leading-edge, standards-based middleware technology to rapidly integrate and deploy solutions at a fraction of the cost of internally developed code.
NDDS is a rich and highly efficient implementation of real-time publish-subscribe networking middleware. It is designed for use in the development of applications having one-to-many, many-to-many, or many-to-one peer-to-peer communications requirements. Regardless of the level of subsystem complexity, NDDS provides a simple, straightforward and fully documented API to the application developer. The deployed applications, whether in defence, aerospace, transportation, simulation, or other markets, function equally well across multiple hardware platforms and operating systems, including Linux®, VxWorks®, LynxOS®, Windows® and SolarisTM.
The publish-subscribe model is widely accepted and has recently been adopted by the OMG (www.omg.org) as the basis for the industry's first standard for real-time data distribution. The new standard is called DDS (Data Distribution Service). RTI's next release, NDDS 4.0, is expected to be the first commercially available implementation of DDS. Its powerful tools for understanding and debugging network problems will provide unique capabilities to the project engineer and system integrator. Already specified in many defence procurements worldwide, DDS is an important new standard easing the development of real-time data-centric distributed applications.
"LocSoft have a fine reputation in the UK for their 'lifelong support policy' and for the quality of their services," says Mike Rogosin, General Manager of Real-Time Innovations EMEA. "RTI is known as a supplier of best-in-class embedded products. This agreement will clearly benefit UK development teams and increase the options open to their managers."
LocSoft will market NDDS and their Glasgow-based engineering staff will assure specialised local support throughout the product life-cycle.
