Mentor Graphics Introduces Capital Harness Systems 2004.2

12/28/2004 - Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) announced availability of release 2004.2 of the Capital® Harness SystemsTM (CHS) product suite. The CHS suite is a comprehensive end-to-end software toolset for the design, analysis, engineering and production of complicated electrical interconnect systems. These are typically found on transportation platforms such as automobiles, aircraft and rail rolling stock. Users can select from a range of fully integrated tools within the CHS product range. These tools all act on a single data repository, thus eliminating re-entry and greatly simplifying the complex change management and reporting issues commonly encountered in this domain.

In addition to substantial enhancements to existing CHS applications, several new software products become available with the CHS release 2004.2. Examples of new products include a transient analysis tool to study dynamic electrical effects such as fuse blow; a module that helps automate vehicle ground design; and a data bridge linking Mentor Graphics® Capital Integrator application with Dassault Systèms' CATIA V5 mechanical CAD suite.

"Capital Integrator is a pivotal product within the CHS range," says Nick Smith, product marketing director for Mentor's Integrated Electrical Systems Division. "Capital Integrator automates the dauntingly complex task of combining multiple subsystems into a full vehicle electrical design. The software synthesizes wiring objects (such as wires, splices and pass-throughs) from signal connectivity data via the application of adjustable design rules, fully aware of the multiple configurations in which the finished vehicle will exist."
