EDN Features LatticeECP, LatticeEC FPGAs Among Hot 100 Products of 2004

12/23/2004 - Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) announced that its LatticeECP and LatticeEC FPGA families are among the products honored by EDN magazine in its December 17 "Hot Products of 2004" feature. On December 20, EE Times recognized the ECP and EC devices as "Ultimate Products," ranking first in the programmable logic category.

Calling the products chosen "compelling," with "dazzling features," the editors of EDN note, "Of the thousands (of products) that manufacturers announce each year and the hundreds that EDN reports on, only about 100 hot products make our readers really sit up and take notice."

"Our LatticeECP and LatticeEC FPGAs continue to attract interest and win praise from industry publications and analysts," said Stan Kopec, Lattice vice president of corporate marketing. "Recognition by EDN, one of our industry's most respected publications, is particularly welcome. More importantly, these unique low-cost, high performance FPGAs are creating broad interest among our customers, which is the best recognition of all," Kopec concluded.

About the LatticeECP and LatticeEC FPGA Families
The LatticeECP-DSP and LatticeEC FPGA device families are architected to provide the most optimized feature sets combined with the lowest total solution costs of any FPGAs. The new LatticeECP-DSP products, targeted for high-performance DSP applications, provide up to a 50% performance and 75% logic utilization improvement over other low-cost solutions when implementing common DSP functions. The LatticeEC FPGA product family, targeted for general-purpose FPGA applications, is a precise and targeted response to the market's explosive demand for low-cost, architecturally streamlined logic solutions. Through advanced 130nm silicon technology, an optimized architecture and proprietary circuit design, the new Lattice devices lower total solution costs by up to 30% to 50% compared with existing FPGA solutions, and are expected to broaden the adoption of FPGAs within the $20 billion ASIC marketplace.
