12/8/2004 - Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY) will exhibit the first member of the recently announced XB Series of clustered systems and servers, at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation & Education Conference the XBi-400. The XB Series cluster nodes are specially designed for compute-intensive applications that employ GPU or FPGA option cards. Both scalable and expandable, a hallmark of the XB Series is the high number of usable PCI-X and PCI ExpressTM option slots housed in a 4U space.

"XBi-400 modules are based on mainstream technology and support standard operating environments in a cost-effective package. In addition, the XBi-400 modules can be flexibly configured with PCI-X and PCI-Express-based options."
The XB Series is designed to support a wide range of processor platforms used in numerous applications in medical imaging, and geophysical and simulated visualization. The first XB product, the XBi system module, leverages the latest Intel® XeonTM processors and is a self-contained package installed in the 4U, 24-inch deep XB rack-mount chassis. The chassis can hold up to four XBi system modules, which run either the Linux® operating system or the Microsoft Windows® environment.
