Pre-Orders Surge for Tiger Telematics' Gizmondo Handheld Gaming Device

12/6/2004 - Intrinsyc Software International Inc. (TSX:ICS) announced that one of its customers, Tiger Telematics, released news that they have received over 560,000 pre-orders in advance of the commercial launch of their new Gizmondo wireless multi-entertainment handheld gaming device. The Gizmondo device and its games are currently launching in the UK during Q4 of 2004, and in Continental Europe and North America in Q1 of 2005. Tiger Telematics has not projected the ultimate number of orders it expects to receive for the device.

Intrinsyc Software previously announced its agreement with Tiger Telematics Inc. in November of 2003 forming a strategic partnership to provide Intrinsyc’s licensable technologies and supporting professional engineering services for Tiger Telematics advanced series of gaming devices. That contract includes provisions for Intrinsyc Software to receive ongoing royalties based on per unit sales of the Gizmondo device.

“This is a fantastic affirmation of interest in Gizmondo,” said Carl Freer, Managing Director of Gizmondo, “We believe that realistically at least a half of these pre-orders will move to retail sales as availability in the stores ramps up in each territory. Nevertheless, these numbers bode extremely well for Gizmondo.”

“We are very excited to see such strong demand for a product in which we played a strategic role in bringing to the market,” stated Derek Spratt, CEO of Intrinsyc Software, “This partner engagement with Tiger Telematics further confirms our business model of increasing our royalty based income and helps us share in the success with our partners.”

Intrinsyc Software developed the fully-customized software for Gizmondo based on the Microsoft Windows CE .NET operating system, as well as a telephony application software suite based on Intrinsyc’s intellectual property and integration services. Mike Carrender, CEO of Tiger Telematics said, “Intrinsyc has brought a wealth of intellectual property and high-caliber skill sets to this project, allowing us to provide the features our customers demand in a leading-edge mobile entertainment device.”
