Trilogy Broadcast Develops Mercury VoIP Device with Nucleus RTOS

12/2/2004 - Accelerated Technology(r), a Mentor Graphics division (Nasdaq: MENT), announced that its Nucleus(r) real-time operating system (RTOS) has been used by Trilogy Broadcast Ltd. to develop the Mercury system, an Internet Protocol (IP) voice-based communication device.

The Mercury system offers a totally fresh approach to intercom solutions based on Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology, which allows all elements of the system to interconnect over a standard Ethernet. Mercury provides bi-directional audio communication in an IP environment. It offers near instant connection across LAN and WAN configurations with "one touch" operation of hardware or virtual panels. A unique feature of Mercury is its ability to provide true multi-member conferences (party lines) between members of a Mercury enterprise.

Developers at Trilogy chose the Nucleus RTOS because of its robust and reliable features combined with a royalty-free licensing model. The complex features of VoIP technology required the Nucleus RTOS to be highly optimized and fully scalable. Trilogy developers also based their RTOS selection on the proven reputation of Accelerated Technology and the top-notch technical support.

"We received excellent technical support from Accelerated Technology. I base that comment on the prompt and accurate response from technical support over the past three to four years of development with Nucleus products," said Phil Luke, development manager at Trilogy Broadcast. "That support, combined with the source code, royalty-free licensing model and the rich features of the Nucleus RTOS, has made our Mercury system a success in the broadcast media industry."

"Accelerated Technology is dedicated to helping software developers like Trilogy build their products quickly and easily from conception to deployment. The Mercury system is a great example of how robust software and a responsive technical support team can help make technology successful in the wireless networking market," said Robert Day, director of marketing, Embedded Systems Division, Mentor Graphics.
