11/29/2004 - SwitchCore has decided to start business activities in China and will open a small office in Shanghai to address the Chinese market for enterprise and access networks. This opening was instigated by the company's close partnership with Huawei and other Chinese customers.
SwitchCore already has an extensive partnership with Huawei-3Com, one of China's leading data and telecom equipment suppliers. The decision to open a sales office in China was prompted by not only the company's Huawei-3Com partnership but also a keen interest shown by new China-based customers in SwitchCore's Xpeedium2-based products.
"Although our business with Huawei-3Com has not progressed as we expected this year, the fact remains that Huawei-3Com will remain our single largest customer in 2004. We have a solid foundation for continued good collaboration. Furthermore, we are very interested in playing a part when China expands its broadband capacity," says Henric Isacsson, CEO of SwitchCore.
The sales office will principally deal with sales and customer support activities.
"Our assessment is that China will in the long term be a very interesting market for us," concludes Henric Isacsson.
