CSR Receives National Business, European Electronics Industry Awards

11/29/2004 - CSR (LSE: CSR.L) announced that it has won two coveted awards within the space of one week. CSR scooped both the Business Innovation of the Year award at the National Business Awards and the prestigious Semiconductor Product of the Year award at this year’s European Electronics Industry (EEI) awards.

The National Business Awards’ Business Innovation of the Year Award acknowledges CSR’s proven ability to create, nurture and develop innovations that substantially improve the commercial performance of the company. CSR has achieved quarter on quarter growth over the past 11 quarters with operating profit on Q304 exceeding revenue for the same period in the previous year. At present, CSR holds 47 percent market share of all Bluetooth silicon and more than a 60 percent design win share. CSR’s philosophy is to democratise wireless technology through its commitment to low cost and by simplifying the design process for engineers by providing highly integrated wireless devices with full development support.

The award for Semiconductor of the Year brings CSR’s total count to three EEI awards following the two won last year. Held in Munich, the awards celebrate excellence in the electronics industry across Europe. CSR was presented with this award in recognition of CSR’s BlueCore4 Bluetooth silicon.

Launched last June, CSR’s BlueCore4 was the first Bluetooth silicon to implement EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) Bluetooth, giving data rates up to three times faster than previous versions of Bluetooth. CSR believes its supply of EDR Bluetooth is six months ahead of other silicon vendors. Continuing its reputation for defining the cutting edge of wireless technology, CSR has more recently launched the first 802.11 a/b/g chip designed specifically for mobile devices.

John Hodgson, CEO, CSR commented, “2004 has been a fantastic year for CSR. With the largest UK tech IPO in three years, the launch of the first EDR Bluetooth chip, BlueCore4, and the launch of the first Wi-Fi chip specifically designed for mobile devices, UniFi, under our belt, we are well placed for continued growth. The whole CSR team is extremely proud to receive these two major awards and truly values the recognition.”
