(NASDAQ: MRCY), announced its alliance with NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) to develop and deliver innovative image processing solutions for the life sciences and geosciences markets. Mercury’s renowned expertise in image and digital signal processing applications and NVIDIA’s leadership in visual computing technology will be combined to create a comprehensive set of solutions to address the growing demands of these imaging applications.
Mercury is leveraging the tremendous performance provided by multiple NVIDIA Quadro® graphics processing units (GPUs) at a reasonable cost to solve the massive and ever-increasing data-intensive challenges present in medical imaging and volumetric visualization and exploration including those utilizing very large data sets. GPUs are exceptionally efficient at floating-point computation and are becoming increasingly useful for such applications.
