Agilent Maintains Leadership in PCB Test and Inspection Industry

11/19/2004 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced that it has maintained its leadership in the printed circuit board (PCB) test and inspection industry, according to the 2003 market share study recently completed by Prime Research Group(1). Agilent commands more than 34 percent of the $294 million global in-circuit test (ICT) market, 66 percent of the global automated x-ray inspection (AXI) market, and more than 19 percent of the $244 million (excluding Japan) global imaging inspection market. Agilent has been the market share leader in the in-circuit and imaging markets since 2000.

"After a precipitous decline in the global ICT market in 2001 and 2002, the industry rebounded by 5 percent in 2003, while Agilent's ICT business grew by 10 percent," said John Spofford, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Manufacturing Test Business Unit. "With nearly 35 percent of market share, Agilent maintains its position as the largest supplier of in-circuit test systems -- 10 percent more than its nearest competitor."

The study also shows that Agilent, the worldwide leading supplier of automated imaging solutions, is the leader in the U.S. imaging inspection market. Although this market declined by close to $1 million between 2002 and 2003, Agilent sales increased by $3 million, giving the company a 26 percent market share -- 14 percent higher than its nearest competitor.

"Agilent's success is attributed to our customers' confidence in our products and our continued commitment to innovating and developing new products that meet their changing needs," said Spofford. "Agilent's broad portfolio of paste, pre- and post-reflow AOI [automated optical inspection], AXI and ICT provide our customers with a comprehensive suite of test and inspection solutions."
