Concurrent Addresses Importance of Planning for Video-On-Demand
11/17/2004 - Concurrent Computer Corporation (NASDAQ: CCUR) announced its plans for the TelcoTV Conference and Expo being held in Orlando, Fla., Nov. 16-18. Concurrent will address the importance and advantages of planning for advanced Video-On-Demand (VOD) services by telcos. By offering VOD services, telcos have access to another revenue stream to help recover the investment made to offer triple play services – voice, video and high-speed data. At the show, Concurrent will showcase its advanced interactive video technologies, enabling VOD over HFC, DSL and Fiber-To-The-Premises (FTTP)-based networks. Concurrent presence at the TelcoTV show includes:
- The same streaming technology that powers 89 markets for the delivery of VOD with North America’s broadband system operators, in Concurrent’s booth, #204
- An end-to-end IPTV solution including VOD with partner Tut Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: TUTS), in the Tut Systems booth, #405. Together, the companies offer a comprehensive VOD solution to service providers deploying digital TV and other entertainment services over broadband access networks. This partnership extends Concurrent's presence in the emerging video-over-DSL market in North America, where Tut Systems serves 100 independent operating companies (IOCs) that have commercially deployed digital TV services
- As announced in September of this year, an integrated solution with Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA), the leading supplier of broadband access and IP video solutions. Through the Alcatel-Concurrent partnership, the companies offer an integrated solution that capitalizes on the strengths of Alcatel’s global reach and robust content distribution network and video middleware and Concurrent’s scalable and high-capacity video server system, together providing broadband operators with unparalleled technology that enables a competitive end-to-end triple play system. The integrated solution will be demonstrated in Alcatel’s booth, #304
- An integrated solution with NDS’s (NASDAQ/ Euronext Brussels: NNDS) VideoGuardTM content protection, as part of NDS Synamedia’sTM broadband solution, and the Concurrent MediaHawk platform in the NDS booth, #404. The combination of NDS’s VideoGuard content protection solution and Concurrent’s MediaHawk system optimizes the demands of both operators and subscribers, giving subscribers immediate viewing access with secure delivery.
