11/5/2004 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced that STATS ChipPAC Ltd. (STATS ChipPAC -- NNM: STTS and SGX: STATSChP), a leading independent semiconductor test and advanced packaging service provider, has selected Agilent as its strategic test supplier in an agreement worth up to $125 million. Under the terms of the two-year deal, Agilent will provide its 93000 SOC Series test system, services and support to STATS ChipPAC and collaborate on strategic plans for new markets and next-generation opportunities.
The collaboration and adoption of Agilent's 93000 SOC Series single, scalable architecture expands STATS ChipPAC's capacity and capabilities in providing digital, mixed-signal SOC (system-on-a-chip) and RF integrated circuits (ICs) testing services. This agreement combines Agilent's leading-edge SOC test systems with STATS ChipPAC's broad solutions portfolio and ability to drive business growth in target markets.
As the SOC design and manufacturing industry continues to grow exponentially, semiconductor assembly and test service providers are looking for solutions that enable them to scale to the needs of a broad range of customers as well as protect their investments in test equipment. The Agilent 93000 SOC Series is the highest-performance, lowest-cost single, scalable platform architecture. Its upgradeability and compatibility also ensure application coverage for future technologies while protecting current investments. The Agilent 93000 SOC Series is capable of testing high-speed devices and a broad range of mixed-signal and RF applications.
"We're pleased that STATS ChipPAC has chosen the Agilent 93000 SOC Series to meet its high-speed, digital, mixed-signal SOC and RF testing needs," said Pascal Ronde, vice president of sales and marketing for Agilent's Automated Test Group. "STATS ChipPAC's choice of the Agilent 93000 SOC Series is an endorsement of the platform's leading performance in the digital, mixed-signal SOC test environment. We look forward to helping STATS ChipPAC fully address the changing needs of its customers."
"This relationship combines the strengths of both companies and focuses on our joint commitment to address the demands of our wide range of customers," said Wan Choong Hoe, chief operating officer of STATS ChipPAC. "We strongly believe the performance, scalability, reliability and lower cost of test offered by Agilent's 93000 SOC Series, and the plans for ongoing strategic collaboration and support, are imperative for us to provide the solutions our customers need to be successful in their target markets."
