11/5/2004 - Green Hills Software, Inc., the market leader in safety-critical and royalty-free real-time operating systems (RTOS), announced the immediate availability of two dual-mode IPv4/v6 Internet Protocol stacks for its RTCA/DO-178B, Level A compliant INTEGRITY-178B RTOS for safety- and security-critical applications. The IPNET and IPLITE stacks take advantage of the INTEGRITY-178B RTOS’ secure partitioning, allowing networked applications to share the same processor as software requiring certification to the most stringent safety standards.
Developed by Green Hills Software’s technology partner Interpeak AB, the IPNET and IPLITE protocol stacks provide backward compatibility with current IPv4 requirements while overcoming IPv4’s security shortcomings and 32-bit address limitations.

IPNET provides complete IPv4 and IPv6 networking solutions, supporting multiple network interfaces, NAT, PPP, built-in routing tables, VLAN tagging, Quality of Service and built-in advanced IP Security (IPsec). IPLITE provides a small and compact dual IPv4/v6 protocol stack configurable from 17 KB of memory for embedded systems requiring a small footprint. IPsec is optionally available for IPLITE.
Both stack offerings have additional network applications available such as Telnet, FTP, TFTP, DNS and DHCP, along with L2TP, LDAPc, NAT, PPPoE, RIPv2, SNTP, Web server, secure Web server, MobileIP and SNMPv1/2c/3. Additional security protocols such as Radius, Firewall, SSH, SSL and IKE are also available.
Both IPNET and IPLITE are fully compatible with existing Internet standards, facilitating seamless support for both IPv4 and IPv6. This enables INTEGRITY-178B users to deploy IPv4-compatible systems today that are ready for IPv6, while retaining their investment in development tools, RTOS experience and application interfaces.

The INTEGRITY-178B RTOS provides complete time, space and resource protection between multiple applications operating on the same hardware platform. This partitioning effectively builds a firewall between applications executing in different virtual address spaces and the kernel, preventing errors in one application from corrupting other applications or the kernel. An INTEGRITY-178B partition cannot accidentally or maliciously affect another partition’s code, I/O or data.
