Agilent Introduces Ultra-Wideband Design Exploration Library

11/4/2004 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced the availability of its new ultra-wideband (UWB) Design Exploration Library, which speeds design development and helps get emerging wireless products to market more quickly.

The company also announced that Daido Steel Co. Ltd. has selected Agilent's Advanced Design System (ADS) 2004A Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software and the new UWB Design Exploration Library to help speed its development of bandpass filters used for UWB transceivers. ADS 2004A and the UWB Design Exploration Library will enable Daido Steel to verify transceiver performance before costly hardware prototyping begins.

"These exploration libraries allow us to rapidly respond to our customers' need for speed in design and verification. The UWB Design Exploration Library focuses on emerging ultra-wideband wireless technology and replaces the UWB DesignGuide, which handled only the transmitter portion of transceiver system design. The Design Exploration Library allows users of ADS 2004A to perform a complete, system simulation of both the transmitter and receiver portions, compliant with the latest release of the multi-band Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) specification. It also provides preconfigured simulation setups, signal sources and test benches for quick simulation of circuitry used in ultra-wideband applications. This makes it possible to analyze the circuit's system performance before all the system components are designed.

Agilent ADS software offers a complete set of front-to-back simulation and layout tools and instrument links for RF and microwave IC design in a single, integrated design flow. In addition, connected hardware and software solutions from Agilent combine simulation with measurement hardware and allow the sharing of signals, measurements, algorithms and data in both directions between the physical and virtual domains.
