11/2/2004 - Optima EPS, an Elma Company, announces the availability of a range of 19" and 24" width equipment cabinets that use welded aluminum construction to provide lower-weight NEBS compliance for seismic regions. Heavy duty aluminum extrusions are combined with a seven-gauge steel base to provide a rugged floor-mounting design able to resist shock, bending and vibration stresses, backed by Optima's extensive range of options and customizing services.
Despite their rugged construction, these seismic cabinets use Optima's contemporary styling, suiting them to a wide range of office and un-manned installations. With many examples already field-proven, the cabinets are ideal for deployment in earthquake-prone areas to Zone 4, and comply with Bellcore TR-63/ANSI-329, suiting applications such as telecom, defense, aerospace and rack-mount computers.
The seismic cabinets build on Optima's experience with aluminum extrusions, and offer a proven heavy duty design which weighs 50% less than traditional welded steel. The high strength but light weight design was originally developed as part of Optima's custom engineering program, and simplifies transport, site preparation and structural requirements. To minimize OEM system configuration time, each seismic cabinet is customized to suit its application, ensuring that details such as cooling, mounting, cable ducting and power distribution are pre-installed and ready to receive equipment racks.
Project managers are available to provide technical support for special colors, EMI/RFI screening and for meeting on-site handling needs to suit crane, forklift or manual installation, as well as to ensure compliance with limited clearances. Full CAD support and electronic documentation is provided to help meet tight project timescales.
