Mindready Releases FPGA-based S800 IEEE-1394b-FireWire Link Layer

(TSX: MNY), a leading supplier of innovative solutions for test and embedded systems serving high-growth vertical markets, announced the commercial availability of the world's most powerful general purpose FPGA-based S800 IEEE-1394b / FireWire® Link Layer core.

Developed for bandwidth hungry multimedia applications, this new module provides transmission speeds up to 800 Mbps, which is the maximum bandwidth currently available through the IEEE-1394b standard. Featuring a highly integrated 1394b Link Layer core for FPGA, this module allows clients to integrate the rest of their design on the same chip, resulting in better testability and lower production costs for their embedded systems.

This technological innovation is suitable for all types of embedded devices without PCI support such as industrial cameras, VCRs, set-top boxes, scanners and other applications requiring high-bandwidth low-latency embedded communication systems. It can be ported to the most commonly used real-time operating systems (RTOS) and microprocessors.
