Excel Software Makes Software Engineering Easy for Macintosh

10/27/2004 - Excel Software announced version 7.5 of MacA&D OS9. MacA&D OS9 is a software engineering tool for Macintosh OS 9 computers that automates requirements management, software modeling, code generation, reengineering and flexible report generation. Popular design methods are supported including structured analysis & design, object-oriented design with UML, data modeling of information systems and real-time, multi-task design.

Excel Software is also pleased to announce a Beta Program for its upcoming MacA&D OSX product. Customers that purchase the Developer edition of MacA&D OS9 7.5 through year-end are invited to participate in the Beta Program for MacA&D OSX. They will receive a free upgrade to MacA&D OSX when it ships in January 2005.

MacA&D OSX is a native Mac OS X edition of the flagship products, WinA&D for Windows and MacA&D OS9 for Macintosh. MacA&D OSX supports requirements management, software modeling, code generation, reengineering and flexible report generation. It builds on an 18-year lineage of MacA&D and WinA&D use by thousands of software developers in consulting, industrial and defense companies. Site license customers include GM, Los Alamos National Labs, Raytheon, Northrop-Grumman, Lockheed Martin, IBM, EDS and CSC.

In addition to modeling enhancements, MacA&D OS9 7.5 adds a new mode for evaluating MacTranslator and a command to export documents to the new XML based format used in MacA&D OSX. Design work including diagrams and tables, text specifications, dictionary information and requirements created in earlier versions of MacA&D or WinA&D can easily be migrated to the new MacA&D OSX product.

MacTranslator is a companion tool for reengineering source code into models. Used in conjunction with MacA&D, it creates structure charts from C, Pascal, Basic or Fortran, UML class diagrams from C++, Object Pascal or Java and data models from SQL. MacTranslator works with the OS9 or OSX editions of MacA&D.

MacA&D OS9 runs on Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X computers in Classic mode. It's available in the Standard edition for $495, Educational edition for $845, Desktop edition for $1295 and Developer edition for $1995. Each product includes step-by-step tutorials, sample projects, printed manuals and PDF manuals on CD.
