10/27/2004 - Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ:LSCC) has announced that BvR electronic GmbH has selected the Lattice ispXPLD(tm) 5000MV programmable logic device for Anaconda, its high-resolution digital display link system. The Anaconda system adapts remote displays to PC graphics cards with DVI-D outputs at distances up to 50 meters, with VGA to SXGA resolutions at true colour quality, using low-cost "ethernet" cable (CAT7 and RJ45).
BvR selected the Lattice ispXPLD device for its DVI to DVI/LVDS extender system, based on its internal RAM memory, CPLD-based structure and pricing. "The Lattice XPLD was an affordable design solution and easy to implement within the system," said Markus Krautbauer of BvR. "The design tools and XPLD architecture allowed us to easily meet our timing and schedule requirements. We were impressed by the XPLD's RAM capabilities, which we used for video direct data buffering. The Lattice part provided us with ample resources for managing back channels for our digital video link."
"The Lattice ispXPLD 5000 was the initial third generation wide-logic PLD with embedded RAM," said Stan Kopec, Lattice vice president of marketing. "PLDs continue to be very attractive devices for leading-edge companies like BvR that need fast time to market, excellent performance and programmability. Lattice has diversified its product line with the addition of FPGAs, FPSCs, programmable mixed signal devices, clock generators and high-speed SERDES. Nonetheless, leadership in CPLDs, and our more recent XPLDs, remains a key Lattice strength and is a source of great value for our customers."
About the ispXPLD 5000 MX Family
The ispXPLD 5000MX family represents a new class of devices from Lattice Semiconductor called eXpanded Programmable Logic Devices (XPLDs). These devices are built around a new building block, the Multi-Function Block (MFB). These blocks can be individually configured as SuperWIDETM (136-input) logic, single- or dual-port memory, FIFO, or CAM depending on the user's application.
This unparalleled PLD flexibility is combined with sysI/OTM interfaces for support of leading edge standards such as LVDS, HSTL, and SSTL, along with the more familiar LVCMOS standards. sysCLOCKTM PLLs allow easy clock management. ispXPLD 5000MX devices provide expanded in-system programming referred to as ispXP(tm) technology, which makes them both non-volatile and infinitely reconfigurable. They can be programmed through an industry standard IEEE 1532 interface or reconfigured through the Lattice sysCONFIGTM microprocessor interface. Devices are available to support 3.3, 2.5, and 1.8-volt power supply operation.
About BvR electronic
In a competitive global economy, quality and cost assume an ever-increasing role in the production of technical products for national and international markets. At the same time, it is becoming financially impossible for many companies to carry out all the production steps themselves. Forging alliances with partners who can provide specialized expertise has become a competitive imperative.
BvR electronic's fundamental value proposition is to offer complete, comprehensive and competitively priced electronics services with high quality and timely delivery. BvR employees add value through their focused technical expertise in the electronics industry, from the production of design specs, to development, procurement and production, through final shipment. Quality is both BvR's guiding principle and a daily reality. BvR's manufacturing processes include the most modern tools and methods, and since February 1997 BvR has been certified according to DIN ISO 9001 (the German industry standard). Innovative, creative and capable, BvR is eager to help its customers solve problems and meet challenges.
