10/21/2004 - Magma® Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq: LAVA), a provider of chip design solutions, and Teseda corporation announced they have validated the interface between Magma’s IC implementation system with built-in design for test (DFT) and Teseda’s OpenDFT WorkBenchTM software. This results in a seamless design, implementation, diagnostic and test flow. Leveraging the Magma and Teseda solution, design and test engineers can now address DFT, design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for yield (DFY) without translating and mapping data between environments. This reduces the chance of introducing errors, while at the same time increasing productivity and shortening time to silicon.
“As part of Teseda’s OpenDFTTM initiative, the Teseda OpenDFT WorkBench integrates the powerful DFT capabilities of Magma’s IC implementation system with leading test platforms to speed DFT diagnostics and defect isolation, and increase yields as part of an enhanced DFM-DFY flow,” said Steve Morris, president and CEO of Teseda. “We’re pleased to work with Magma to help our mutual customers achieve better results and faster design cycles.”
"In our efforts to improve the turnaround time and productivity of our customers we have looked closely at ways to improve the DFT insertion and verification process during the design process," said Dwayne Burek, director of product engineering for DFT products at Magma. "What was missing until now was a way to quickly validate and debug both the implementation as well as the test patterns. By working with Teseda, we have developed a method of ensuring that the DFT within the design can be fully leveraged. We expect the diagnostic and debug environment to become a key component of improving time to volume and yield management."
Along with its Physically Aware DFTTM solution, Magma will be featuring the Teseda flow in booth 1329 at the International Test Conference in Charlotte, NC, Oct. 26-28.
About the Magma-Teseda Flow
The combined solutions from Magma and Teseda provide a streamlined flow that allows designers to quickly isolate and correct manufacturing defects. Blast CreateTM provides a predictable path from RTL to placed gates. It is a unified environment for logic synthesis, physical synthesis, DFT analysis and insertion, power optimization and static timing analysis. Blast Fusion® is an advanced netlist-to-GDSII chip implementation system that delivers complete design closure with better timing, smaller area, lower power, faster turnaround time and higher capacity than conventional point-tool flows. Teseda’s new OpenDFT WorkBench software integrates DFT design software tools and industry-standard test platforms to cut weeks from DFT validation, silicon debug, manufacturing ramp and failure analysis while also accelerating yield learning. In the combined solutions, information about DFT structures in the design is passed from Magma’s integrated environment into the Teseda OpenDFT WorkBench, making it easy to debug early samples of the design and diagnose defects. All detected defects are pointed back into the Magma environment, where cross-probing permits the designer to see the impact of the defect on layout, netlist and RTL all at once.
