Tundra Announces Full Production of Tsi134 XScale Host Bridge

10/20/2004 - Tundra Semiconductor Corporation (TSX:TUN), the leader in System Interconnect, announced that it has delivered the Tundra Tsi134TM XScale Host Bridge to full production as part of a multimillion-dollar agreement with Intel Corporation.

Tundra and Intel collaborated to develop the Tsi134, a high-performance System Interconnect host bridge that is tailored for the Intel XScale microarchitecture. Lead customers have sampled the device in designs for external storage and network applications for more than a year. Tundra made its first volume shipment of the Tsi134 to Intel in July. Recently the device moved into full production and over the next several years it should generate significant revenue for Tundra.

"This is the culmination of the agreement announced in June 2002. Tundra's delivery of the Tsi134 demonstrates the growing industry trend whereby companies like Intel choose to outsource their System Interconnect requirements to Tundra, so they can focus on their core competencies," said Jim Roche, President and CEO of Tundra. "Achieving production status of the Tsi134 demonstrates the quality of the product we co-developed with Intel."

Tundra owns the intellectual property in the Tsi134 and is using it as part of the foundation for its growing host bridge product portfolio.

Customers wishing to design with or purchase the device should contact Intel at www.intel.com

TUNDRA TSI134 DESIGN DETAILS
A host bridge in a storage or communication system acts as the critical link between the processor and the other system components. It manages the flow of data between the processor, memory and other I/O.

The Tsi134 is the high performance host bridge for the Intel 80200 Processor used in high performance storage and networking applications.

It can support either one or two 80200 processors, has a DDR SDRAM memory controller, and a number of I/O interfaces including two Gigabit Ethernet ports. The Tsi134 has an internal switch fabric and supports concurrent transactions from any interface to any other interface. The Tsi134 also enables extra processing capability, hardware acceleration and out-of-band control required for iSCSI and RAID applications in Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Area Networks (SAN), and Direct Attach Storage (DAS).
