Concurrent Unveils CompactPCI Dual PMC Host Board with Pentium M

10/13/2004 - Concurrent Technologies announces a range of high performance low power CompactPCI® based dual PMC single slot boards utilizing the Intel® Pentium® M processor. The PP 330/02x supports the 1.6 GHz processor (1 Mbyte L2 cache) and the PP 332/02x supports either the 1.8 GHz or 1.4 GHz processor (2 Mbytes L2 cache). All boards support up to 2 Gbytes of 333 MHz DDR ECC DRAM utilizing the Intel® 855GME chipset. As well as two 66MHz PMC sites with front and rear I/O, the PP 33x/02x family supports four Gigabit Ethernet channels, PICMG® 2.16 (Packet Switching Backplane), PICMG 2.9 (IPMI) and PICMG 2.1 (hot swap).

The PP 33x/02x can operate as a system controller board or as a satellite board (blade). Typical applications include defense, security, telecoms, telemetry, industrial control, scientific, and aerospace markets. For harsher applications, using the 1.4 GHz processor, operation over -40C to +85C (K-Series, with humidity seal) and over -25C to +70C (E-Series, with optional humidity seal) is available.

As an intelligent PMC carrier with dual 64-bit 66MHz PMC sites, the PP 33x/02x family is ideally suited to I/O or data applications. Each site supports 3.3V or 5V PCI signaling and is available for customer modules, standard PMC or PrPMC modules. As well as front I/O, the PMC I/O connector signals from both PMC sites are routed to the rear connectors (J4 is not used). For faster CompactPCI control/data plane throughput the PP 33x/02x can operate at 66MHz backplane PCI signaling speeds. Onboard PCI data paths are managed by the Intel® 6300ESB I/O Controller Hub (ICH).

To cater for a range of applications there is an EIDE interface (up to Ultra-DMA100), with options to install an on-board EIDE 2.5-inch disk drive or CompactFlashTM/Hitachi GST MicrodriveTM carrier, while maintaining a single slot. For embedded applications that require both PMC sites the board supports, as standard, an onboard CompactFlash socket. Other features available are four 10baseT/100base-TX/1000baseT Ethernet interfaces, floppy disk interface, 3 RS232 serial channels, 3 USB ports, parallel printer port, PC real-time clock, watchdog timer and legacy speaker interface. IPMI supports IPMB0 and IPMB1. LAN boot firmware is included as well. For applications requiring rear I/O connections a transition module is available.

The PP 330/02x and PP 332/02x support many of today's leading operating systems, including VxWorks®, Linux®, Windows® 2000, Windows NT®, Windows® XP Embedded and QNX®.
