White Electronic Designs Introduces 8Mx72 SDRAM

10/11/2004 - White Electronic Designs Corporation (NASDAQ:WEDC), continues to deliver high-reliability semiconductor products to Military and Aerospace applications providing exceptional space savings.

WEDCís latest device is organized as 8M x 72 packaged in a 21mm x 25mm, 525mm2, 219 plastic ball grid array (PBGA) and weighs 2 grams (typical). The COTS compliant ruggedized plastic, 512Mb Synchronous DRAM is available in commercial, industrial and military temperature ranges.

Benefits include a 60% space savings versus Thin Small Outline Package (TSOP), 19% I/O reduction, lower inductance and capacitance for low noise performance and reduced part count. WEDPN8M72V-XB2X is a smaller version of our previous WEDPN8M72V-XBX, with the same pinout for design compatibility with existing designs. It delivers high density for increased performance in a smaller form factor. It is also upgradeable to 16M x 72 and 32M x 72 densities within the same footprint. (Contact factory for information).

For high speed operation, the 512Mb SDRAM uses an internal pipelined operation where the column address can be changed every clock cycle. The device offers high frequency ranges of 100 and 125MHz. It is fully synchronous with all signals registered on the positive edge of system clock cycle.
