10/8/2004 - Symbian Ltd. and The Carphone Warehouse launched the ‘Symbian OS Smartphones for Dummies’ book at Symbian’s annual Expo – the smartphone show. Written by Symbian OS experts and published by Wiley, the book is an essential introduction for Symbian OS smartphone users, with practical instructions and technical know-how designed to give tips and hints on how to use and customize a Symbian OS smartphone. Symbian OS is the operating system that powers today’s most popular smartphones and mobile phone applications, and is licensed by the world’s leading mobile phone manufacturers including Motorola, Nokia, Panasonic, Samsung, Siemens, Sendo and Sony Ericsson. There are currently 27 different Symbian OS phones and variants shipping worldwide, with 40 more products in development.
In the first promotion of its kind between Symbian and a retailer, The Carphone Warehouse is offering this free introductory book to anyone purchasing a Symbian OS smartphone such as the Nokia 7610, the Nokia 6600, the Sony Ericsson P910 or the Siemens SX1.
"Symbian OS Smartphones for Dummies’ is to introduce new users to Symbian OS smartphones, and what better way to do this than offer it to anyone interested in buying one at the Carphone Warehouse,” said Marit Døving, EVP Marketing, Symbian. “Sales of Symbian OS smartphones total over 15 million to date worldwide and are the first choice on the high street for people wanting an advanced mobile phone with many more capabilities than a traditional handset. We are delighted that we are working with The Carphone Warehouse in a new retail relationship to help their customers make the most out of their smartphones.”
