Tilcon Joins Renesas' Community Enabling Telematics Partner Program

1/23/2004 - Tilcon Software Limited, the graphical interface company, announced its participation in the Community Enabling Telematics (COMETTM) partnership program of Renesas Technology America Inc. (formerly Hitachi). The COMET program is a cooperative association of industry-leading software and middleware providers developing comprehensive, vertically integrated, one-box telematics and car infotainment system (CIS) products that use Renesas SuperH RISC processors and chipsets.

The Tilcon Interface Development Suite’s (IDS) extraordinary graphical user interface technology is fully integrated with leading real time operating systems (RTOS) and a host of complementary technologies (browser, haptics, touch screen etc). The Tilcon IDS allows automotive OEMs too quickly and cost effectively produce market leading vehicle displays that integrate instrumentation, diagnostics, and navigation, communication and multimedia functions. Tilcon’s user interface technology leverages the SuperH SH-4 series and Amanda companion chips, producing unmatched photorealistic instruments and automotive displays.

“The COMET program brings completely integrated design solutions to automotive OEMs,” said Prosanto Sarkar, Director of Marketing at Tilcon Software Ltd. “COMET partners offer proven products that allow telematics designers and engineers to differentiate their products based on features and time to market, while reducing development time and costs. We are delighted to bring Tilcon's automotive suite to this initiative and look forward to working with our COMET partners on exciting new applications that include advanced instrumentation, GIS, telematics and multimedia interfaces.”

Tilcon joins other COMET program partners, including Wind River-- the worldwide leader in embedded software and services. "By integrating WIND RIVER PLATFORMS with Tilcon's innovative and unique graphical interface technology, manufacturers can accelerate the prototyping, development and introduction of automotive, industrial, and aerospace and defense products", said Marc Serughetti, Director of marketing for automotive, industrial, and aerospace and defense for Wind River. "Through our continued partnership with Tilcon, we are able to supply pre-integrated, industry leading user interface technologies to our customers, thereby allowing them to speed time to market while reducing the risk typically associated with the integration process."
