1/15/2004 - Computer Access Technology Corporation (CATC) (NASDAQ: CATZ), a leading communications protocol expert company, announced the addition of device emulation capabilities to their premier USBTracer/Trainer advanced design and verification test system. This new functionality allows users to generate USB device traffic, enabling testing of a USB hosts and device drivers’ ability to handle error conditions and exceptions. Device emulation complements the existing capabilities of CATC’s USBTrainer module, resulting in a test tool that can generate both device and host traffic for a comprehensive system design and debug environment.
Device emulation gives USBTracer/Trainer the ability to simulate device traffic, both legal and illegal, allowing engineers to quickly test their designs under various operating conditions as well as for standards compliance. Once created, test cases can be easily recorded, modified and played back as different scenarios for further testing of the USB system.
“CATC continues to drive innovation in the USB analyzer market by introducing new features and functionality to our leading expert analysis solutions,” stated Fred Rastgar director of Computing Products for CATC. “The ability to simulate either a USB host or device makes the highly versatile USBTracer/Trainer an invaluable tool when developing new USB products. CATC is committed to providing products that meet our customer’s existing and future needs.”
CATC’s USBTracer/Trainer protocol analyzer and test system is available now, with Device Emulation support to be delivered in Q2 of 2004. Existing USBTracer/Trainer customers will be eligible to upgrade their USBTrainer module free of charge.
