1/12/2004 - Fujitsu Computer Systems began shipping its next generation slate Tablet PC - the Stylistic® ST5000 Tablet PC. Taking the best attributes of the award-winning Stylistic ST4000 Tablet PC and adding several new enhancements for increased productivity, Fujitsu continues to demonstrate its unique understanding of pen computing and the specialized needs of highly mobile professionals.
"Leading the market for more than 10 years, Fujitsu has amassed a wealth of knowledge in pen-based computing and is able to focus on the subtle details that our competition may overlook," said Paul Moore, director of product marketing for mobile computing at Fujitsu Computer Systems. "We incorporated everything we've learned over the last decade plus many other improvements that make this slate Tablet PC ideal for project-based and general productivity applications."
Among the most notable improvements is a bright 12.1-inch XGA display. Fujitsu was able to increase the screen real estate yet keep the system under four pounds and less than one inch thick. The larger display enables users to view and navigate larger documents and spreadsheets with ease.
The new slate Tablet PC is powered by an Ultra Low Voltage Intel® Pentium® M Processor operating at 1.0 GHz. Designed specifically for mobile applications, the Intel Pentium M Processor helps the system deliver superior performance and extended battery life. This longevity is enhanced by a bigger standard battery (4,400 mAh), giving users up to five hours1 of computing time. A high-capacity battery (6,600 mAh) is also available, which can last up to eight hours1.
For added security in the field and back at the office, the Stylistic ST5000 Tablet PC features a dedicated Smart Card slot. Particularly useful in healthcare and other applications where users are accessing sensitive information, the Smart Card reader can be used to verify identification and make secure online transactions. In addition, the system features a built-in Memory Stick / Secure Digital media slot for storing and transferring music, pictures and data.
Users will also appreciate the multiple high-speed connectivity options available on the Stylistic ST5000 Tablet PC. It is one of the first Tablet PCs to come with a Gigabit Ethernet LAN (10/100/1000 Base-T/TX), giving users the ability to connect at speeds of 1,000-megabit-per-second. Coupled with optional 802.11a+b/g wireless LAN, users can have high-speed Internet access in practically any environment.
