9/30/2003 - TimesTen, Inc., a provider of infrastructure software for real-time event processing, announced that Spatial Wireless, a supplier of next-generation wireless networking systems for today's mobile networks, is shipping their flagship solution, Spatial AtriumTM, now featuring the TimesTen® Real-Time Event Processing System. An integrated call server, media gateway and element management solution, Spatial Atrium relies on TimesTen for visitor location register (VLR) and configuration data management using advanced features such as in-memory storage, bi-directional replication and standards based APIs. TimesTen was selected because of its exceptional performance and ease of use, contributing to the overall flexibility and cost-efficiency of the solution. Spatial Atrium with TimesTen will enable new services to be delivered in 3-6 months, in contrast to the 1-2 year period typically seen with traditional mobile switching center (MSC) solutions.
Service providers and operators today are striving for increased efficiencies and maximum utilization from their wireless data networks in order to compete and thrive. Accessing subscriber and configuration information in real-time is necessary to achieving this, and provides a foundation for the rapid delivery of innovative new services to end users. Spatial Atrium is designed for Distributed Mobile Switching Center (DMSC), Gateway Mobile Switching Center (GMSC) and network services overlay deployments and is built to leverage current infrastructures and improve the profitability of existing networks.
"Our solution requires the flexibility to process rapidly changing VLR data in real-time," said Pardeep Kohli, president, CEO & co-founder, Spatial Wireless. "Without TimesTen, we would have been forced to build custom infrastructure software to solve this challenge, a costly and time-consuming endeavor. We're delighted that TimesTen is providing us with a proven commercial alternative," added Kohli.
"The Spatial Atrium switch addresses a dilemma faced by many mobile operators—how to reduce operational and capital costs while increasing service flexibility," said Jim Groff, CEO, TimesTen, Inc. "By choosing Spatial Atrium's solutions, mobile service providers gain the ability to serve a growing number of subscribers and capitalize on future network growth and new services without jeopardizing time to market," added Groff.
