9/24/2003 - PLX® Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLXT), the leading supplier of standard I/O interconnect silicon to the communications, server, storage and embedded-control industries, announced it will be leading two major I/O interconnect technical sessions this month at the Communications Design Conference, in San Jose, Calif. Larry Chisvin, PLX vice president of marketing, will moderate Serial Interconnect Standards, a two-part program that explores interconnect technology and implementation, and features some of the leading experts in the communications industry: IBM®, Intel®, Motorola®, Pigeon Point Systems®, and Rambus®.
Serial Interconnect Standards Part 1: I/O Interconnect for Communications (Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1:30-3:00 p.m.) addresses three major interconnect technologies -- PCI ExpressTM technology, PCI-X, and RapidIO - and their features and benefits, emphasizing their applicability in mainstream data communications and telecommunications systems. Session panelists are Tim Kober, director of platform technology, Intel Network Processing Group Technology Office; Al Yanes, president of the PCI SIG® and senior engineer, IBM Engineering & Technology Services Group; and Chuck Hill, system architect, Motorola Computer Group.
Serial Interconnect Standards Part 2: I/O Implementation of Communications Systems (Tuesday, Sept. 30, 3:45-5:15 p.m.) will address how interconnect technology will be deployed in communications systems, including AdvancedTCATM (ATCA) and CompactTCA. This session also will cover high-speed board design, as well as how next-generation I/O interconnects will affect the communications systems' software platforms, such as drivers and applications. Session panelists are Jim Kennedy, staff member, Network Processing Group Technology Office, Intel; Jean-Marc Patenaude, director of marketing, Logic Interface Division, Rambus; and Mark Overgaard, president, Pigeon Point Systems.
"Because PLX is committed to advancing I/O interconnect standards and technology in communications applications, we welcome the opportunity to bring together so distinguished an array of industry experts, and to lead what is sure to be an enlightening program," said Chisvin. "We're confident that attendees will be pleased with and informed by the depth of content, expertise of panelists and lively atmosphere of these sessions."
The Serial Interconnects Standards program will be interactive in nature, with each panelist articulating and defending his argument. Attendees are encouraged to participate in the question-and-answer period that follows each session.
The Communications Design Conference will be held at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, Calif., Sept. 30 through Oct. 2, 2003.
