Broad Product Line Takes Agilent to 200th Mobile Component Design Win
9/24/2003 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced that it has achieved its 200th mobile phone component design win. These design wins span numerous product categories, including radio frequency (RF) components, embedded camera modules, light-emitting diodes (LEDs), infrared transceivers and ambient light sensors. Customers include all of the major handset manufacturers worldwide.
"This is a significant accomplishment, because it highlights the breadth and depth of our uniquely differentiated product offering for mobile phone manufacturers," said Colin Chin, vice president and general manager of sales and marketing for Agilent's Semiconductor Products Group. "It's also an indicator that our excellent supply chain is satisfying growing customer demand, a critical facet in the high-volume mobile handset market."
Agilent's mobile handset products offer advanced technology features, including:
- film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR) duplexers and transmit filters that are up to 80 percent smaller than competing devices, allowing handset manufacturers to offer smaller, slimmer phones
- enhancement-mode pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor (E-pHEMT) power amplifiers with industry-leading, power-added efficiency that extends battery life (increasing talk time by up to 30 minutes), enabling more features
- miniature embedded camera modules that deliver superior image quality with lower power consumption
- surface-mount LEDs for backlighting (manufactured using patented Agilent techniques) that deliver increased reliability and performance
- high-speed, low-power infrared transceivers that offer wireless data transfer in space-saving packages, along with industry firsts such as remote control for TVs, DVD players and other popular home electronics
- ambient light sensors that detect the amount of light available and signals as to whether or not backlighting is necessary, conserving battery life
