PMC-Sierra Provides MIPS Processors for HP LaserJet 9500 Color Printers

9/23/2003 - PMC-Sierra(TM), Inc. (Nasdaq:PMCS - News) a leading provider of high-performance, scalable 64-bit MIPS-based(TM) processors for networking, enterprise and advanced consumer applications, announced that the PMC-Sierra RM7000C(TM) processor was selected for the new HP Color LaserJet 9500 printer series.

Delivering high-performance speeds over 500 MHz with typical power consumption at less than 3W, the cost-effective RM7000C is an ideal processing solution for high-end color printers to provide higher page rates while maintaining image quality.

"HP is the premier supplier of printers and multi-function imaging products that provide customers with more advanced capabilities such as faster page rates, higher quality images and multiple functions in one machine," said John Monson, vice president of marketing, Microprocessor Products Division at PMC-Sierra. "PMC-Sierra offers a broad range of scalable MIPS-based processor solutions that are ideally suited to fill HP's demanding performance and quality requirements."

"PMC-Sierra's cost-effective scalable processor is an important part of HP's award-winning laser printer products," said Michael Kinalski, worldwide product marketing manager, HP Imaging and Printing Group. "HP continues to offer customers industry-leading, competitively priced products, like the HP Color LaserJet 9500 printer series, with the help of PMC-Sierra's high-performance devices."

Eleventh HP Printer Product Powered by PMC-Sierra
PMC-Sierra's scalable processors have been used in multiple HP printer models such as the HP LaserJet 4200, which was selected as "Editor's Choice" of monochrome network laser printers in the March 2003 issue of PC Magazine. The HP Color LaserJet 9500 is the company's eleventh model to incorporate PMC-Sierra's MIPS-based processor (see Table 1).
