9/19/2003 - Venturcom®, Inc., a leading provider of PC remote boot and image management software and embedded solutions, and a Microsoft Windows Embedded Partner “Gold-Level Member”, announced that Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s Woodland Hills School District selected Venturcom’s BXP® software to manage the district’s classroom and lab diskless Windows 2000 PCs. Venturcom’s BXP software solution allows a diskless PC to function as a full-up Windows PC, centralizes PC image management and data storage, and provides a means to rapidly reconfigure desktops for multiple uses. BXP guarantees the desktop is highly available and reliable, and impervious to viruses and file corruption.
“Venturcom’s BXP software was one of several options we explored for reducing the time that our technical staff and teachers spend managing classroom equipment” stated Kevin Iachini, Computer Systems Administrator, Woodland Hills School District. “When we narrowed our choices to BXP and the leading thin-client solutions, only BXP could both reduce our support and maintenance costs, and support the increasingly sophisticated computing environment required for our educational curriculum.”
Venturcom’s BXP software will help Woodland Hills reduce the costs associated with maintaining approximately 1,000 Windows multimedia computers. All of the district's computers run Windows 2000 Pro and Microsoft Office, as well as a variety of graphics and instructional software packages including PageMaker, AutoCad, and Cognitive Tutor. Full local processing power allows numerous systems to run such CPU-intensive software applications without any performance degradation, all within a diskless Windows environment.
“We are pleased with Woodland Hills’ decision to deploy BXP,” said Steve Woodard, SVP Global Operations for Venturcom. “A growing number of educational institutions have found BXP successful in minimizing their downtime, significantly easing systems management, and reducing support costs.” About Venturcom, Inc.
