9/19/2003 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced a collaboration with Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corp. (HKSTP) to establish the Probe and Test Development Center in the Hong Kong Science Park at Pak Shek Kok, Shatin, Hong Kong. The center will provide a wide array of IC testing resources to meet the growing testing needs of the IC design communities in Hong Kong and the surrounding Pearl River Delta region.
The Pearl River Delta region, the leading electronics manufacturing production base in the area, is driving the need for a professional, high-end system-on-a-chip (SOC) testing service center. The collaboration between HKSTP and Agilent supports innovation and technology development by providing a standard production-testing platform for application-driven and market-oriented research and product development. The selection of the flexible Agilent 93000 SOC Series platform will enable the center to cover a wide range of IC testing requirements -- including mixed signal, analog, digital and RF -- rounding out HKSTP's comprehensive set of services focused on enhancing productivity and competitiveness in Hong Kong's technology industry.
"The Hong Kong Science Park is attracting a growing number of companies both locally and overseas to set up IC design operations in Hong Kong," said S.W. Cheung, vice president of business development and technology support for HKSTP. "The flexibility and scalability of the Agilent 93000 mixed-signal SOC test platform with its global installed base will help meet emerging customer needs in advanced mixed signal and SOC IC design and development. We are confident that the test platform of the 93000 SOC Series model P600 will meet our customers' sophisticated testing requirements."
"Agilent is fully committed to supporting HKSTP and its advanced SOC testing technology, as well as the expanding needs of fabless companies in the region," said Pascal Ronde, global sales, service and marketing vice president for Agilent's Automated Test Group. "HKSTP will also leverage Agilent's professional technical expertise along with our worldwide experience in meeting customer needs to accelerate time to volume at a competitive cost of test."
The Hong Kong IC Design/Development Support Center is scheduled for completion by the end of 2003. It will offer comprehensive services to HKSTP tenants and other IC companies engaged in research and development in Hong Kong, supporting them through the entire IC development cycle, from initial design to production release. When completed, the development support facility will include a well-equipped EDA center, data center, the Probe and Test Development Center, Reliability Laboratory, Product Analysis Laboratory and an IC Design Training Center. It will also provide an MPW (Multi-Project Wafer) Shuttle Service, IP (intellectual property) service as well as test/product engineering services through a team of experienced professionals.
