9/16/2003 - AEP Systems unveils the advanced edition of AEP SureWare A-Gate, a remote access appliance offering secure access to company applications and resources. AEP SureWare A-Gate AG-600's enhanced feature set, which now includes full client-server access to company data, is ideal for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) looking for high functionality at an affordable price. The product sells for a one-time price of $8995.00 with no extra licensing fees or costly consulting contracts. SureWare A-Gate customers include retailers, telecommunications companies, government bodies and universities in the US, Europe and Asia.
Primary SureWare A-Gate components - A-Gate Anywhere and A-Gate Central - fulfill every SME requirement for remote access. A-Gate Anywhere lets employees and partners access email and other Web-enabled or Windows Terminal Services applications from any PC running a standard browser. A-Gate Central gives road warriors and teleworkers full access to client-server applications from a client PC - usually a laptop, a remote desktop PC or a home computer.
"SSL VPNs are an ideal solution for small and mid-sized enterprises," said Michael Suby, senior research analyst with Stratecast Partners, a division of Frost & Sullivan. "Clientless access allows SMEs to keep their remote workers connected to essential data resources without the IT overhead of traditional IPSec VPNs. The requirement for secure remote access cuts across businesses of all sizes so there is no question that SMEs will increasingly look to SSL VPNs as a solution."
"A-Gate AG-600 solves the remote access problem for SMEs," said Rob Lane, Vice President of Product Management at AEP Systems. "Businesses with limited IT resources can easily deploy and manage SureWare A-Gate with minimal time and effort. They get all the benefits and functionality of a feature-rich remote access solution, but at an affordable price."
Cotran Technologies Ltd. is a Philadelphia-based IT services and solutions provider that implemented AEP Systems' A-Gate AG-600. "SureWare A-Gate gives our customers 24-hour remote access to their corporate information wherever they are. The A-Gate is fast and easy to deploy, which saves our SSL VPN customers considerable time, money and effort," said Chris Broomes, Technical Architect at Cotran Technologies Ltd. "We looked at a number of SSL VPN products, but A-Gate fulfilled our criteria for a robust, secure and easy-to-configure product that beats its competitors on price."
AEP SureWare A-Gate AG-600 features:
Designed with SMEs in mind, A-Gate AG-600 is easy to deploy and manage. The A-Gate Anywhere component, which provides clientless access, can be quickly deployed to any user without installing software on the user's computer. Simply publishing a URL allows immediate access to internal resources such as Web mail or Web-enabled applications from any device with an Internet browser. While A-Gate Central has a client component loaded onto the user's computer, it is much easier to deploy than a traditional IPSec client. Users can load A-Gate Central themselves and can easily manage future A-Gate updates.
Many businesses are opting for SSL VPNs instead of traditional IPSec VPNs for remote access. Traditional IPSec VPNs deliver client-server access but do not provide a clientless solution, like A-Gate Anywhere, which frees employees from having to use a company laptop to access corporate data. Analyst firm Infonetics predicts that the SSL VPN market will top $900 million in annual revenue in 2006.
"The SSL VPN market is growing rapidly because the technology opens up a whole new market for corporate remote access," said Jeff Wilson, Executive Director at Infonetics Research. "With AEP SureWare A-Gate, AEP Systems is well positioned to go after small to medium-sized businesses, and departments within large enterprises."
