9/16/2003 - Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTEC), the company driving the global core system software standard in hundreds of millions of PC systems and connected digital devices for nearly 25 years, has launched the Phoenix Trusted Partner Network cME Certified ISV program. This new business opportunity gives independent software vendors (ISVs) and developers an easy way to expand their market reach and differentiate their products by building them into the Phoenix Core Managed Environment (cMETM), a protected part of the PC core. Housing applications in the Phoenix cME environment protects ISVs' software and enterprise customers against attacks and other disasters. NEC, Network Associates, and Softex are among the companies that have received Phoenix cME certification.
"Since we have certified our TheftGuard security application into the Phoenix cME environment, we have been able to offer the PC market the next level of security needed to help prevent computer theft," said Apurva Bhansali, founder and CEO of Softex, Inc. "We view our membership in the Phoenix cME Certified ISV program as a key vehicle for developing differentiation of our security products and attracting new customers."
Using the Phoenix cME Integration Kit, developers can integrate applications into the host protected area (HPA) of a system's hard drive, shielding applications against viruses, user errors and other corruptions. This access to the PC core creates new opportunities for customizing applications to fit customer needs, including "rapid on" applications. An ISV can leverage the extensive integration capabilities and tools of Phoenix core technology to provide entry into new markets and a time-to-market advantage.
"Phoenix cME is the only core system software solution that enables valuable applications and services to be built into the PC core," said Timothy D. Eades, Senior Vice President, Corporate Marketing and Product Division for Phoenix. "Program members who build their applications into Phoenix cME also gain the extensive Phoenix relationships with leading OEMs and system builders. The program helps to increase new business growth and profit opportunities for the entire supply chain by supporting a new arena for software innovation."
ISV Program membership advantages also include:
