9/15/2003 - Applied Data Systems (ADS), a Microsoft Windows Embedded Partner Gold-level member and leader in ruggedized low-power and application-ready Windows CE-based devices, is now shipping application-ready single board computer (SBC) embedded platforms running Microsoft's Windows CE .NET 4.2 operating system. By leveraging Microsoft's newly-released Windows CE .NET version 4.2, ADS's customers now have easy access to the latest embedded and mobile technologies such as BlueTooth, VoIP, XML Web Services and the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework.
"Our quick migration to the latest version of Windows CE exemplifies our commitment to Microsoft technologies and our ability to provide leading-edge technology solutions to their customers," said Robert Olsen, president of ADS.
"ADS's new tool wrappers and resources for the .NET Compact Framework provide developers with an extended foundation to rapidly create a wide range of next-generation, smart and small-footprint Windows CE .NET-based devices," said Scott Horn, director of the Embedded Devices Group at Microsoft Corp.
ADS continues to maintain its leadership position in application-ready, RISC-based single board computers by fully adopting and supporting Windows XP Embedded and Windows CE .NET platforms. ADS provides the optional integration with the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework on all ADS shipped products. ADS is introducing additional .NET managed classes for several technologies, including the CAN bus, serial communications and the popular ADSmartIO technology. These tool wrappers facilitate code developers to quickly produce robust applications for their embedded solutions.
Due to Gold-level participation in the Windows Embedded Partner program, ADS's developers have gained knowledge of the .NET Compact Framework and Visual Studio .NET 2003 prior to the products general availability. This allows ADS to provide tools, utilities and source code to developers that integrate easily with the.NET Compact Framework.
