8/6/2003 - CarMedialab (CML) and Prosyst Software AG announced, that they signed a reseller contract and will work together with HP and Oracle on a common telematics solution. CML already offers its customers the CarTelematicUnit, which is based on a modular architecture and open standards. This unit will become one of the core parts of the common solution.
CML decided to use ProSyst´s OSGi-based service platform, mBedded Server Telematics Edition. This OSGi-based service delivery platform provides many advantageous features, such as the reusability of software modules, extremely high security, and enables the interoperability among the vehicle network and its components. The open, modular, and scalable integration platform enables remote diagnostics and maintenance as well as dynamic remote updates of software components, security services, and entertainment content provided by vehicle manufacturers or service providers.
At the beginning of 2003, CML presented the first innovative solutions at renown events. Together with its development partners Oracle and Hewlett Packard, CML introduced the "HPCoolCar Concept" at the CeBIT 2003, transforming a Volkswagen Touareg into a mobile hotspot by equipping it with CML´s CarTelematicUnit, including embedded Linux, roaming features, and wireless LAN access.
At a fair for Volkswagen suppliers, a "mobile office" solution with a laptop and a printer had been installed in a VW bus by setting up a secure connection to an Intranet application via the gateway functionality of CML´s telematics box. In addition to the mobile office functionality, the fleet dispatcher can build up a connection to an electronic control unit within the vehicle in order to remotely request vehicle data. This functionality can be advantageously used for preemptive maintenance activities during planned vehicle downtimes.
Using ProSyst's products, the companies, including HP and Oracle, will realize a complete telematics solution, that consists of the front-end and the back-end sides, plus Car Integrated Services, such as remote diagnostics and maintenance.
Dr. Dimitar Valtchev, CTO Prosyst Software AG: "Also from the technical point of view, this cooperation promises to be a great success. ProSyst´s software will be installed on a proved hardware solution that has been developed with strong and competent partners. We are glad that our products help CarMediaLab to successfully finalize its innovative telematics solution enabling customers to benefit from it as soon as possible."
Heiko Bauer, CEO CarMedialab: "ProSyst´s Software has been our first choice from the beginning on. Thanks to ProSyst's solutions the breakthrough of the CarTelematicUnit will happen faster than expected. Not only, because the mBedded Server Telematics Edition is ready-to-use and easy to integrate, but also because this product has fully convinced our development partners HP and Oracle."
