8/6/2003 - Parasoft, leading provider of Automated Error Prevention software solutions, announced the general availability of Parasoft SOAPtestTM 2.0 for the Linux operating system. SOAPtest is an Automated Error Prevention product for Web Services and enterprise applications built with SOAP. Parasoft will showcase SOAPtest for Linux at the Linux World Expo at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, August 4-7.
"There aren’t many products on the market that provide Automated Error Prevention for Web Services, and even fewer that support Linux," said Gary Brunell, Parasoft vice president of professional services. “By making SOAPtest available on Linux, we’re enabling developers in the Linux community to not only test their Web services, but also prevent errors and ensure that those services are reliable and scalable.”
SOAPtest automatically performs server functional testing, load testing, and client testing with just the click of a button. It automatically creates test suites from WSDL documents to test every operation associated with those documents. The same test suites used for functional testing can be used for load testing and monitoring, enabling users to verify whether traffic levels, patterns, or combinations cause functionality problems or decreased performance.
SOAPtest verifies that clients send appropriate requests to services, and are able to handle responses as expected. In addition to one-click server functional testing, load testing, and client testing, SOAPtest also works as a proxy server, enabling users to view and verify messages between a client and a Web service.
SOAPtest supports the concept of Automated Error Prevention, which advocates the automation of five simple steps to improve the development process and prevent software errors; 1) Detect an error; 2) Isolate the cause of the error; 3) Locate the point in the process that created the error; 4) Implement practices to prevent the error from reoccurring; and 5) Monitor for improvements.
By using SOAPtest throughout the software lifecycle, Linux developers can improve the quality and reliability of their SOAP services. The product was recently recognized as one of the Best Web Services tools when it was awarded Software Development Magazine’s Jolt Productivity Award.
Pricing and Availability SOAPtest 2.0 runs on Linux (glibc 2.1.x or higher with kernel 2.2.x), Solaris and Windows 2000/XP. Pricing starts at: $3495. For more information, please go to: http://www.parasoft.com/soaptest
